FAQ's

+
Q: Can I give my room a personal touch to make it feel more like home?

A: You can personalise your room using pictures, photos and ornaments. You can also bring in pieces of furniture as long as these comply with fire regulations and do not obstruct care equipment. We will be happy to talk about this with you in details so that your room is perfect for your care and comfort.

+
Q: What is the visiting policy?

A: Whilst COVID-19 restrictions are in place and in line with Scottish Government and Health Protection Scotland guidance, visits must be booked in with our administrative team. Our Care Homes have a set number of slots to accommodate visits for the time being and are booked on a first come first serve basis for regular visiting.

For our residents who are receiving end-of-life care, please could their next of kin contact the Manager of the Home who will make every effort to accommodate additional visits.

+
Q: Can I have a say in what happens in the home?

A: You will be invited to take part in a residents meeting. This is optional but is an opportunity for you to have your say and raise any questions you may have with staff and other residents.

+
Q: Do the staff have care qualifications?

A: Prior to joining our team, all staff take part in an on-site induction which includes Health & Safety, Infection Control and Moving & Handling training. Mandatory updates and refresher courses in all areas are then provided their employment with us.

All registered nurses are registered with the NMC and have to revalidate every three years to maintain their registration.

All our Care Staff will have SVQ2 award within 2 years of employment and will be registered with the SSSC within 6 months of employment according to National Minimum Standards as set by The Care Inspectorate. We offer other opportunities to progress further if desired.

+
Q: What security measures are in place to ensure residents are kept safe?

A: Management ensure that there are always enough staff on duty with the relevant skills needed to make sure our residents feel safe. Medicine is safely stored and only administered by trained staff members.

Where possible, our homes involve our residents in reviewing medicines and supporting them to be as independent as possible.

All of our homes and equipment are well maintained and we are always looking for ways to improve safety. Staff deal with any incidents and accidents quickly and openly and investigate when necessary.

+
Q: What happens if I or my loved one is not happy with any aspect of the care you offer?

A: While our team work tirelessly to ensure our residents are 100% happy and that high standards of care are met, we do have a formal complaint procedure that will deal with any issues in a transparent and professional manner. (please see attached link)
